Mission
The Steven Frosch Memorial Foundation is a non-profit organization created in memory of NYC Department of Sanitation worker Steven Frosch, who was tragically injured and sadly passed away while on the job on June 21, 2014. Our mission is to carry out Steven’s legacy by providing financial support to those affected by a tragic loss of a loved one. We also provide financial awards to students in our local and extended community.
Goals of the Steven Frosch Memorial Foundation:
-
To provide students with encouragement and financial support to those who best exemplify the outstanding qualities exhibited by Steven during his lifetime. The recipients of this provision should strive to be an ambassador of goodwill within their community and endeavor to achieve academic distinction and athletic excellence.
-
To give strength, courage, and financial support to those affected by the tragic loss of a loved one.
-
To keep Steven’s memory and spirit alive, especially his passion for life and eternal love he felt for his family and friends.
The inspiration for this journey originated during numerous discussions by so many that loved Steven.

Steven's Story

Steven Frosch was a devoted husband, doting father, and loyal friend. He embraced and adored life with every fiber of his being. His family was, above all, the most important thing in his life. He married his childhood sweetheart, Bina, who he had known for over 25 years. Together they had four beautiful children: Steven, Charlize, Fredrica, and Jesse. As an active member of the Garden City South/Franklin Square community, Steven was very proud to raise his family here and be involved in a neighborhood he loved so much.
Steven was born on March 5, 1971 in Middle Village - a small, tight knit community located in Queens, New York. Here is where he made so many "neighborhood" friendships; ones that would last throughout his adult life. Steven attended St.Margaret's Elementary School, St. Francis Preparatory High School, and St. John's University, graduating with honors from all.
Steven was a passionate worker. He personified New York City’s Finest, Bravest, and Strongest, dedicating over 20 years of his life to serve others on the NYPD, FDNY and DSNY.
On June 21, 2014, his promising life came to a tragic end when he was fatally injured while on the job at the New York City Department of Sanitation. His death resonated so deeply, not only with his family and close friends, but also with those that hardly knew Steven. And so the spark, the same one that kept us so connected through that devastating time, was ignited and The Steven Frosch Memorial Foundation was born. A non-profit foundation established in, and to, honor an exceptional man’s life. Our goal is simple - to support others in our community through financial support, advancement opportunities, and to give strength and courage to those affected by the hardships of losing a loved one. We vow to keep Steven's legacy alive, especially his love for his family and friends and his passion for life.
His big heart, compassionate personality and contagious smile touched the lives of so many. He will be sorely and eternally missed.
